Businger was elected Fellow of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) in 2010. Businger helped pioneer the multi-disciplinary application of ground-based GPS receivers for estimating atmospheric precipitable water (he was the PI of initial NSF grant that proved the concept), and he helped spearhead the creation of the National GPS PW network, which became fully operational in 2010.ĭr.
